Ueno

Ueno (上野) is one of Tokyo’s 23 district wards. Unlike many of the other districts that make up Tokyo like Shinjuku and Ginza Ueno is not all high rise condo’s buildings and shops. Ueno is filled with Buddhist temples, Museums and parks making it feel less city like and more rural.

Ueno Park (上野公園 Ueno Kōen)- is a large park right beside Ueno Station. Ueno Park also contains Japan’s most famous Zoo Ueno Zoo. The park is famous for its cherry tree’s, temples, and museums.Click here for more information

      


Ueno Zoo – Japans oldest and most famous zoo is located in Ueno, The zoo is inside of Ueno Park and is a mere five minute walk from Ueno Station. The zoo houses a collection of interesting animals amongst the world. Click here for more information


Tokyo National Museum – Is on of Tokyo’s oldest and largest museums. It holds over 110,000 objects and over 77 national treasures. The museum focuses on Asian and Japanese art but also has many other things such as statues and artifacts. Click here for more information


Getting there

You can Use the Ginza line, the Jr Yamanote line or the JR Keihin Tohoku Line to get to Ueno.
