Brief information; Shinjuku is one of the the 23 special wards that make up Tokyo. It has one of the most packed train stations in Japan, if not the most packed. Shinjuku is also home to many of the biggest skyscrapers in Japan. If you are planning to go to Shinjuku it would be highly advised to pre-book all necessary things such as hotels since Shinjuku is one the most visited areas in Japan.

Things to do

There are many museums such as;

  1. National Printing Bureau Banknote Postage Stamp Museum
  2. National Museum of Nature and Science Shinjuku Branch
  3. Shinjuku Historical Museum
  4. Tokyo Fire Department Museum

Sight seeing; If you want to get a good view of the area you can go to the Tokyo metropolitan government building for a free peak. The building is the second tallest building in Tokyo standing at 243 meters. The views are spectacular and better yet free. I would recommend bringing water and snacks since the price for such things will be steep.

Clubbing/ Partying; If you want to party have some fun check out Kabukichō district in Shinjuku it is one of Japan’s biggest red light districts.Kabukichōreallystarts to shine when the lights go down, offering many unique clubs, bars,and restaurants for your entertainment. Although Japan is very safe it would be highly advisable not to wander alone and carelessly through out this area, it is know for its various crime syndicates like the Yakuza and Chinse mafia.

Wildlife/ Nature: Shinjuku Gyoen is 58 hectares of land dedicated to park land. The park is one of Tokyo’s largest and most diverse, it has thousands of tree’s from cherry blossom tree’s to tulip trees. The park is open every day but Monday and is open from 9:00 to 16:30. There is a very small free, JPY200 per adult and JPY50 per child. If you happen to be in Japan during the cherry blossom season ( March to the beginning of April) it is definitely recommend you check out Shinjuku Gyoen.
